Safeguarding Policy

Last updated: January 2026. Maplecrest Living is independently owned and operated by Laxmi Tamang as a Sole Trader in the United Kingdom.

1. Purpose

Most students I work with are under 18. This Safeguarding Policy sets out how I keep every young person I teach safe during their engagement with Maplecrest Living.

2. My responsibilities as a sole trader

As an independent tutor working with children, I take personal responsibility for safeguarding. I keep my safeguarding knowledge up to date, follow safer-recruitment principles when engaging any occasional external help, and act promptly on any concern raised.

3. Online conduct

All sessions take place on reputable video-calling platforms (typically Zoom or Google Meet). I encourage parents to remain within earshot for younger students. I do not communicate with under-18s privately through personal social media accounts.

4. Session recording

Sessions are not recorded by default. Where recording is requested — for revision or safeguarding purposes — it takes place only with the written consent of the parent or guardian, and the recording is handled in line with the Privacy Policy.

5. Disclosures and concerns

If a student discloses something that raises a safeguarding concern, or if I have reason to believe a student is at risk of harm, I will follow current UK safeguarding guidance and refer the matter to the appropriate local authority. Where safe and appropriate, I will keep the family informed.

6. Photography and student work

I do not share photographs of students or identifiable student work on the website or in marketing without explicit written consent from a parent or guardian.
