FAQ

Answers to the questions I get asked most.

How do I get started with Maplecrest Living?

The best first step is to book a Learning Assessment. This is a friendly 60-minute session where I get to know the student, understand their goals, and put together a written learning plan.

What ages do you teach?

I work with students from Key Stage 2 through to GCSE and Functional Skills level, typically between the ages of 8 and 18.

Are all sessions delivered online?

Yes — every session is delivered remotely by video call using Zoom or Google Meet. Students only need a laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection and a quiet space.

Do you offer group classes?

No. Every programme is one-to-one so the lesson is fully tailored to the individual student's pace and needs.

How long is each session?

Standard sessions last 60 minutes. Shorter or longer sessions can occasionally be arranged by prior agreement.

What subjects do you cover?

English, Mathematics, Science, Business Studies, Computer Skills, general study skills, exam preparation and homework support.

Do you help with GCSE exam preparation?

Yes. The Exam Success Programme is designed specifically for GCSE and Functional Skills revision, including past-paper practice and exam technique.

How is progress measured?

Every student has an individual learning plan with clear targets. Written progress notes are shared with parents or guardians at agreed intervals.

What happens if a student misses a session?

Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice at no cost. Full details are in the Attendance Policy.

Do you set homework?

Yes — but always at a manageable level. Homework reinforces learning between sessions and is reviewed at the start of the next lesson.

How do I pay?

All programmes are paid securely through Stripe using the checkout button on the Pricing page. No card details are ever stored by Maplecrest Living.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, refunds are available within the terms of the Refund Policy. Please read that page for full details.

Do you offer subscriptions or memberships?

No. Every programme is a one-off purchase. There are no recurring charges, subscriptions or memberships.

Are lessons safeguarded?

Yes. I follow a written Safeguarding Policy covering online conduct, session recording, communication with under-18s and reporting concerns.

Will the same tutor teach every session?

Yes — every session is taught personally by Laxmi Tamang. Maplecrest Living is a sole-trader business, so students always have consistency.

How quickly can lessons start?

In most cases lessons can begin within 3-5 working days of booking a Learning Assessment.

Do you provide resources?

Yes — worksheets, notes, past papers and study guides are shared digitally after each session and remain yours to keep.

Can parents attend the first session?

Absolutely. Parents and guardians are warmly welcomed for the introductory portion of the first session.

What is your response time for enquiries?

I aim to reply to every enquiry within one business day.

Is Maplecrest Living a limited company?

No. Maplecrest Living is independently owned and operated by Laxmi Tamang as a Sole Trader in the United Kingdom.
